Less than a mile awayThe Church and Convent of San Francisco, at the Plaza San Francisco in Lima, is an imposing landmark, with art and a whole lot of history. It's most famous for its catacombs - crypts with the remailns of around 7000 people, with their bones artfully arranged. Discover the tombs, the paintings and the building with a 30-minute tour and wander through this unique part of Peruvian history. The church is open from 9am until 8pm (though closed from 2-4pm).
